PokerStars Introduction

This review could be written in a single sentence: PokerStars are simply the biggest and best poker site in the world, head and shoulders above the competition, so if you haven’t got an account with then, go and get one.

PokerStars Loyalty Program

The PokerStars VIP Club is the biggest and best rewards program in the poker world. You earn points automatically for playing real money games, and the more you play the more you earn. You can use the accrued points to exchange for cash rewards, claim free gifts or enter VIP tournaments, often with very nice guaranteed cash prize pools.

In the VIP store you will find a wide range of items including branded T-shirts, watches, various accessories, oh, and a Porsche Cayman S (for 3,100,000 Frequent Player Points, in case you’re interested!).

Through the program you earn two types of points at the same time: VIP Player Points and Frequent Player Points, with the latter being the ones you can exchange for goodies and the former being what determines the VIP level you are at. The higher the VIP level the more Frequent Player Points you are able to earn, but check the site for the full details (or just play as much as you like, earn the points and exchange them as you choose without worrying about the intricacies of how it all works!).

PokerStars Tournaments

As mentioned, there are literally thousands of tournaments running at PokerStars at a given time covering a wide range of games including favourites Texas Hold’em and Omaha along with Omaha Hi-Lo, Stud (Seven card stud high), Stud Hi-Lo, Draw, 2-7 Triple Draw, 2-7 Single Draw, HORSE, Razz (Seven card stud low), 8-Game Mix, Hold’em/Omaha, and Badugi.

As sponsors of the Australia and New Zealand Poker League there are tournaments running everyday (to be found in the PokerStars lobby, click ‘Tourney’ & ‘Regional’) that allow you to accrues league points (and battle against friends and family) for cash prizes.

As well as the Sunday Million tournament already mentioned (which takes place every Sunday with a buy-in of $215 and a guaranteed prize pool of $1,000,000), there are loads of big, big tournaments to get involved in with the chance to win life-changing amounts of money. For instance, the Sunday Warm Up has a cool $500,000 up for grabs, the Sunday Storm has a $300,000 prize pool, The Daily Bigs are, as you might expect, daily tournaments with big prize pools ($100,000 to be exact), along with a whole host of others.

With so many tournaments, promotions and features available at PokerStars, we have barely scratched the surface here. But I refer you back to the initial statement: PokerStars are the biggest and best, so check them out now and see what all the fuss is about.
