Perth Glory v Sydney FC Betting Tips – 26th March 2017

The premiers plate is a pretty big deal in the A-League. It may not be the biggest prize in Australian soccer, but it does represent a significant triumph and teams are always keen to get their hands on the plate.

Well, almost always.

It’s just a matter of time before Sydney FC win the premiers plate. They could have it wrapped up before kicking a ball this weekend but the club have asked the A-League if they can delay the presentation ceremony until after their Round 27 match against Newcastle Jets.

Usually, the A-League hands over the plate as soon as it’s been won but this year the powers that be decided to accept the Sky Blues’ request.

Graham Arnold has consistently been keen to play down the significance of the minor premiership. He’s right in as much as there’s little point finishing at the top of the A-League ladder if you can’t go on and win the Grand Final.

The Sydney FC players understand that they must remain focussed at the conclusion of the regular season but they’re also happy to have the chance to celebrate with their fans at Allianz Stadium after the match against the Jets.

While Arnold is keen to ensure that his players take their performances in the home-and-away season into the finals, his opposite number at Perth Glory, Kenny Lowe, wants his squad to get a head start by declaring that the Finals start with Sunday’s match at NIB Stadium.

It’s been an up and down season so far for the Glory. The team found the going tough in the first half before hitting a bit of form more recently to give them a nine point cushion between themselves and the Jets in seventh.

The end of the regular season does look tough for Glory though. They’ve got three home matches against teams above them which gives Lowe’s men a chance to send out a message to their Finals rivals.

Glory have a great chance to show Sydney FC that they are a side to be feared in the Finals during Sunday’s match and the bookies certainly think they’ve got a chance.

Sydney FC, who have lost just once all season, are the favourites but at a best price of $2.20 it’s clear nobody thinks the A-League’s best side will run away with it.

The Sky Blues have a great record on Sunday with wins in each of their last five matches (during which time they’ve conceded just three goals). We think that their winning streak will continue but that they’ll find it tough to keep a clean sheet against this motivated Perth Glory side.

So, have a bet on Sydney FC to win and both teams to score at $3.40 with Bet365.

If Perth Glory are to have any hope of going all the way to the Grand Final they must get the most out of Adam Taggart, Andy Keogh and Diego Castro. Between them, the trio have scored over 70% of Glory’s goals this season so their form will be crucial.

They’ll all be a danger to the Sydney FC defence but of the three, Castro looks the value pick to score anytime at $3.30 with Sportsbet.
