Melbourne Victory v Adelaide United Betting Tips – 25th February 2017
We’ve got just seven rounds of action remaining in the regular A-League season. Some of those coveted top six places have already been decided upon but other sides are still doing all they can to extend their season.
That is not quite the case for either Melbourne Victory or Adelaide United.
Victory know that they will have a place in the Finals Series when they begin at the end of April. Kevin Muscat’s men have earned their place despite a tricky patch in January and they’ll still believe that they can overhaul Sydney FC at the top of the ladder to be crowned the A-League Premiers.
In order for Victory to keep the pressure up on the Sky Blues, they simply must beat Adelaide United at AAMI Park on Saturday.
Like Victory, Adelaide are also not worrying about their place in the top six. United have endured a horrible season and nobody involved at the club wants to extend this campaign any longer than necessary.
The Reds have won just three matches in the A-League so far. With a five point gap to make up on the Central Coast Mariners, Adelaide United are concentrating solely on avoiding the embarrassment of the wooden spoon.
If anything, that price looks a little big to us.
Victory have won two of their last three games and also have a good record against Adelaide United in the longer term. The AAMI Stadium crowd will be expecting a win for The Victory and so do we.
Melbourne Victory have long been one of the most well supported A-League clubs in terms of fan numbers. The players are often able to draw on those great levels of support for encouragement but it can sometimes be a little difficult to live up to the fans’ lofty expectations.
That could well be the case during Saturday’s game.
Many Victory fans will be expecting their team to turn up and batter Adelaide United. It’s not going to be as easy as that.
The Reds have had some shocking results this season but they are not completely hopeless at the back. Guillermo Amor will send his players onto the pitch with the express aim of being as tough to break down as possible and could have some success in that regard.
Expect Melbourne Victory to have to work for the win and bet on under 2.5 goals at $2.50 with William Hill.
If Victory find it tough to break Adelaide United’s resistance, they may require a moment of brilliance. That is most likely to come through the A-League’s top goalscorer, Besart Berisha.
The Albanian has been linked with a move back to Europe but for now he can prove his quality Down Under by scoring first at $4.25 with Sportsbet.
