We’ve got just seven rounds of action remaining in the regular A-League season. Some of those coveted top six places have already been decided upon but other sides are still doing all they can to extend their season.
That is not quite the case for either Melbourne Victory or Adelaide United.
Victory know that they will have a place in the Finals Series when they begin at the end of April. Kevin Muscat’s men have earned their place despite a tricky patch in January and they’ll still believe that they can overhaul Sydney FC at the top of the ladder to be crowned the A-League Premiers.
In order for Victory to keep the pressure up on the Sky Blues, they simply must beat Adelaide United at AAMI Park on Saturday.
Like Victory, Adelaide are also not worrying about their place in the top six. United have endured a horrible season and nobody involved at the club wants to extend this campaign any longer than necessary.
The Reds have won just three matches in the A-League so far. With a five point gap to make up on the Central Coast Mariners, Adelaide United are concentrating solely on avoiding the embarrassment of the wooden spoon.
