Leicester v Liverpool - Soccer Betting Tips & Prediction

Published: 29.08.2018

As Jurgen Klopp put it, there’s never been anything bad said about securing nine points from the opening three matches of the Premier League season.

That’s what Liverpool have managed at the start of the new EPL campaign thanks to wins over West Ham, Crystal Palace and Brighton. Without taking anything away from the Reds’ performances, it’s hardly been the toughest start imaginable.

Liverpool’s next assignment is a trip to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester.

The Foxes have bounced back from an opening night defeat against Man Utd to win their last two matches and are ready to pose Liverpool’s toughest test of the season so far.

Leicester Look Good Value for the Draw

Although Klopp is clearly very happy with Liverpool’s start, he has been quick to point out that there is no point looking at the league table after just three matches.

He also suggested that his players will need to improve if they are to seriously contend for the title. Liverpool were certainly made to work very hard for the three points against Brighton and although the Seagulls were unable to make the Reds pay, it could be a different story against Leicester.

Leicester’s back-to-back wins haven’t only put the defeat against Man Utd firmly behind them, it’s also reduced the pressure on Claude Puel who was apparently very close to the sack.

Puel is desperate to hang onto his job with the Foxes because he knows just how strong their squad is. The absence of Jamie Vardy through suspension is a blow but Leicester have enough quality attacking players to suggest that they will cause Liverpool a problem, especially in front of a full house at the King Power Stadium.

The win may be just beyond Leicester’s reach but the definitely have enough about them to earn a point against Liverpool so we think the draw is well priced at $4.75 with Neds.

Goals Expected at the King Power

If Leicester are to grab a point from the first game of the Premier League weekend, they’ll surely have to score.

Liverpool have improved significantly in defence and midfield over the last year or so but it’s their attacking prowess that rightly gets most of the attention. The Reds showed how ruthless they can be against a poor defence when beating West Ham 4-0 in their first outing of the season but also proved they are capable of breaking down stubborn defences.

We think the away side will be able to break through Leicester’s organised defensive unit but also believe that the Foxes’ own pacey options in attack can have some success on the counter. Therefore, we’re adding both teams to score to our Leicester v Liverpool betting tips at $1.80 with bet365.

Back Leicester to Score Late

Klopp is right to tell his players that the league table means very little at this stage of the season. He will, however, be very keen for his team to build up as much of a lead as possible over Man City.

City dropped points for the first time last Saturday away to Wolves and Liverpool have the chance to turn the pressure up by getting an early win but we think there’s a chance they will get pegged back late on against Leicester.

The Foxes squad are incredibly competitive and will not give up should they go behind. From a betting perspective, that suggests that the Liverpool/draw selection in TopBetta‘s half time/full time market is worth a bet at $19.

We also recommend betting on the impressive James Maddison scoring the last goal of the game at $11 with bookmaker.com.au
