Bein Sports Australia is the place to be on Thursday morning if you want to start your sporting weekend early, as Hull City take on Reading at the KC Stadium. Once the early pacesetters, Reading now find themselves locked in mid-table whilst they continue to struggle on their travels.
It’s no surprise that Hull City are the favorites, but the price itself is somewhat unexpected. The Tigers have the opportunity to move back in to second place ahead of Boro’. Hull have let their defenses down themselves lately, but they have still won four of five at home without conceding a goal.
Reading have lost their last four matches on their travels, including a game where struggling Fulham hit them for four. Reading have won just once in their last nine games overall, and they’ve failed to beat Hull in four meetings, twice losing 1-0 last season.
Hull City are favorites to win the game at a price of 1.91 with Bet365. The draw is available at 3.60, whilst Reading can be backed at 4.50 The way the Royals are defending at the moment, I’d probably instantly rule out the latter as being a sensible choice.
Hull themselves have been conceding more than they would have liked, but I think they faced an extremely tough schedule. A trip to the Etihad was always an impossible task, whilst a Yorkshire Derby can always be a toss up. Derby beat Hull 2-0 to move top of the league, so I think it’s been a tough run in.
The Tigers got back on track with a 1-0 win over Bolton on the weekend. The performance wasn’t fantastic, but they took all three points. They did so without Dawson and Bruce, who will again be absent on Wednesday.
Curtis Davies and Harry Maguire are most likely to start off of the bench for Hull. You could say consider it a weakening of the team, but it’s still a CB pairing that a lot of sides at this level would love to have.
Hull fans were thrilled to see the return of Robert Snodgrass when they visit Man City recently, and depending on his fitness, it might be a wise idea to start him ahead of Diame who continues to struggle recently. Snodgrass is a massively influential player for Hull.
Reading have the boost of former City boy McShane returning to the squad, and they’re not lacking motivation with a new manager at the helm. None the less, I think it’ll take more than just that to change the current culture at Reading.
