Chelsea Vs. Arsenal Betting Tips – FA Cup Final
Antonio Conte admitted to Sky Sports that he didn’t think Chelsea could win the Premier League in his first season in English football. At the start of the campaign many people would have agreed with him but now everybody makes the Blues the favourites for Saturday’s FA Cup final against Arsenal.
It was actually a defeat against Arsenal that changed Chelsea’s season. Conte had been playing with four at the back but switched to the 3-4-3 formation that worked so well for him as both Italy and Juventus manager.
Chelsea never looked back and won the league title with weeks to spare. Having seen Chelsea’s success with three at the back Arsene Wenger employed a similar formation in the latter part of the season. Unfortunately for Arsenal fans, the improved form that came with the switch was too little too late and the Gunners will now miss out on the Champions League for the first time in 20 years.
That puts more pressure on Wenger’s shoulders to win the FA Cup for the third time in four years. Chelsea’s quality and Arsenal’s desperation should provide a thrilling cup final.
Match Stats and Form
- Chelsea’s 30 Premier League wins was a record in the competition
- Arsenal may have won more points and scored more goals than last season but they still finished one point outside the top four
- Chelsea gained revenge for their defeat at the Emirates by beating Arsenal 3–1 at Stamford Bridge
- Arsenal have the better head-to-head record of two but have only beaten Chelsea twice since April 2012
- Both teams ended the season with victories in their last five league games
Chelsea – Courtois; Cahill, Luiz, Azpilicueta; Moses, Alonso, Kante, Matic, Pedro, Hazard, Costa
Arsenal – Cech; Holding, Mertesacker, Mustafi; Monreal, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Xhaka, Ramsey; Sanchez, Ozil, Welbeck
The fact that both teams will be playing the same formation should ensure this is a fascinating tactical battle. The three men defence of both sides must remain vigilant to combat the movement of the opposition’s forward line.
Eden Hazard and Pedro for Chelsea and Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil for Arsenal will try to stretch their opponent’s defence while Danny Welbeck and Diego Costa concentrate on getting on the end of any chances which are created.
Space will be at a premium in the middle of the pitch so players like Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka have a tough afternoon on their hands against N’Golo Kante in particular.

The major concern for Arsenal is keeping Chelsea at bay given the number of problems they have in defence. Wenger was already struggling with injury concerns before Laurent Koscielny got himself suspended thanks to a stupid challenge on Enner Valencia in Arsenal’s final league game of the season.

That makes the task that much more difficult for Arsenal. Chelsea would be the favourites with the bookmakers without Arsenal’s defensive worries. When you add them to the mix you have to think that the odds of $1.75 Sportsbet are quoting on a Chelsea win represent good value.
Arsenal may struggle to win against Chelsea but they should be able to at least score a goal at Wembley. Their recent FA Cup finals against Hull and Aston Villa were very entertaining matches and we could be in for another with big swings in momentum.
We think Arsenal will score and therefore like the look of the $8.50 that William Hill are quoting on Chelsea winning by a 2-1 score line.
Our final bet is on Pedro to score anytime at $3.85 with Unibet. The Spaniard has become a very important player for Chelsea this season and could well add to his tally of four FA Cup goals at a decent price.
Top Betting Tip:
Chelsea to win at $1.75 with Sportsbet
