Chelsea v Man Utd Betting Tips
The UEFA Nations League has been largely well received across Europe. English soccer fans certainly enjoyed watching England beat Spain on Monday night but still there’s nothing that gets the pulse racing quite like the return of the Premier League.
The EPL fixture list tends to ensure that a top quality match kicks off the weekend following an international break. That’s exactly what we have ahead of us on Saturday when Man Utd make the trip to London to take on Chelsea.
Mourinho to Have Another Uncomfortable Return
There are so many angles to this match but, as usual, it’s Jose Mourinho who has made most of the headlines.
Speculation about the future of the Man Utd manager has gone wild in the early stages of the new EPL season. Mourinho has hit out at some of the treatment he’s received by the press but it’s clear that the negativity that surrounds him has played a part in United’s problems so far.
Whether it’s suggesting that his squad is not good enough, making barbed criticism of the club’s owners or having a falling out with Paul Pogba in the full view of the watching cameras, Mourinho is far from blameless.
Many Man Utd fans believe that the biggest area of blame for Mourinho is that he is simply no longer a world class manager. The argument goes that more forward thinking managers – like Chelsea’s Maurizio Sarri – have overtaken Mourinho and that his defensive style of football is no longer good enough to secure the level of success that a club of Man Utd’s stature demands.
There have been signs that Mourinho’s tried to get his team to play with more attacking verve, the second half against Newcastle being the most obvious example. There are two problems with that when it comes to Saturday’s match though.
First, the standard of the play when falling two goals behind to a Newcastle side who are average at best was more troubling than the comeback was pleasing. Second, Chelsea are playing some of the best football in Europe under Sarri’s management.
The Chelsea players have been heaping praise on their new manager. He has the team playing with a structure but also allows the creative players to express themselves and when your forwards are as good as Chelsea’s it’s no surprise the Blues sit level on points with Man City and Liverpool at the top of the EPL.
Mourinho has rarely enjoyed a trip back to Stamford Bridge since leaving Chelsea and we don’t think he’ll enjoy himself on Saturday. The Blues could be on course for something special and look a very good price to win at $1.72 with Neds.
United to Make a Game of It
Despite all the criticism that Man Utd have faced for being stilted in attack under Mourinho, the only game in which they’ve failed to score so far this season is the 3-0 loss to Tottenham.
United were actually very good in the first half of that match and were unlucky not to score. Mourinho is yet to get the best out of his forwards but still they regularly score so make sure to include a bet on both teams to score at $1.78 with Palmerbet.
Those of you comfortable taking a bit of an extra risk with your betting should consider heading to the correct score market. If United do turn up this could be one of the matches of the season so a bet on the Chelsea 3-2 selection is tempting at $29 with bet365.
Hazard to Show Off to Real Madrid
The one dark cloud gathering on the horizon for Chelsea is the future of their star player, Eden Hazard.
The Belgian’s performances have improved even from his own high standards this season. While that’s helped Chelsea a lot, it’s also alerted Real Madrid who Hazard has admitted he’d love to play for.
Hazard’s future remains up in the air but his quality does not so make sure to bet on him to score the game’s first goal at $4.50 with Unibet.
