Champions League Final Betting Tips – Juventus v Real Madrid
There are plenty of big soccer games in Europe at this time of the year but nothing quite gets close to the Champions League final. It’s fitting that in a match of this size two of the biggest clubs in Europe have made it to Cardiff and the Millennium Stadium.
Juventus and Real Madrid don’t only have incredible European pedigree but they’ve proven themselves to be two of the very best in the game currently.
You could put together a strong case for Real Madrid being the best side in Europe. They’ve won the Champions League in two of the last three seasons and having won the Liga title, Zinedine Zidane’s men are in a great place to become the first team to ever successfully defend Europe’s top prize.
Juventus haven’t quite reached the levels of Real, at least in the eyes of most people. The Old Lady are comfortably the best team in Italy (they won Serie A for the sixth year straight this season) but they are without Champions League glory since beating Ajax on penalties in 1996.
Will the Real Madrid juggernaut carry on or can Juventus get the job done so superstar goalkeeper, Gigi Buffon, finally gets his hands on the trophy?
Match Stats and Form
- Real Madrid are the top scorers in this season’s Champions League while Juventus have remarkably only conceded three goals en route to Cardiff
- Both teams have four wins from their final four matches in all competitions
- In 18 previous meetings, the two share eight wins apiece and two draws
- Victory for Juve would be their third Champions League success but a record 12th for Real
- This is a repeat of the 1998 final when Real Madrid triumphed 1-0 in Amsterdam
Juventus – Buffon; Chiellini, Bonucci, Barzagli; Sandro, Khedira, Pjanic, Alves; Mandzukic, Dybala, Higuain
Real Madrid – Navas; Danilo, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo; Kroos, Casemiro, Modric; Isco, Ronaldo, Benzema
This is shaping up to be a fascinating tactical battle, primarily because both managers have a couple of options to choose from.
Allegri could go with the three-man defence that he’s favoured this season to try and limit the space available to Real Madrid’s forward line. However, that runs the risk of the Old Lady being overpowered in midfield so he could play four at the back and flood the middle of the pitch.
In contrast, Zidane’s options are at the other end of the pitch. It looks unlikely that Gareth Bale will be fit enough to start the game but even so, he can set Ronaldo, Isco and Benzema up as either a front three or a front two with Isco in a deeper role to keep Juve guessing.
Real Madrid go into Saturday’s game as the narrow favourites but we’ve got a feeling this one is going to take more than 90 minutes to be resolved.
We know all about the class of Real Madrid as an attacking and creative unit. They’ll look to utilise Toni Kroos and Luka Modric from deep whilst relying on Isco, Karim Benzema and the always brilliant Cristiano Ronaldo to provide the goals.
On the face of it, that’s a frightening prospect but this is a Juventus side who kept clean sheets in two games against Barcelona. Allegri has his team incredibly well organised and in Sami Khedria and Gonzalo Higuain, he’s got two players who know Real Madrid intimately.
Juventus have proven themselves time and time again but they are still being written off by some. Their quality from front to back and the experience of Allegri makes Juve look very good value to lift the trophy at $2.0 with Bet365.
Although Juventus have what it takes to win the Champions League, it is hard to see the 90 minutes going by without Real Madrid getting on the scoresheet. Given that we think this could take extra time and/or penalties, a bet on the 1-1 correct score is tempting at $6.30 with Unibet.
Finally, have a bet on Paulo Dybala scoring at $3.20 with William Hill. The Argentine forward has been sensational in two season at Juventus but could end up moving to Real Madrid in the summer.
Expect Dybala to prove his class on the biggest stage.
