The Roar will be hoping a change of manager means a change of fortune, whilst visitors Perth will be looking to avoid yet another poor result on this ground. The fixture has been dominated by Brisbane in recent years, but there are a number of interesting factors that could affect the outcome of this game.
Brisbane Roar are favourites to win the game at 2.30 with Luxbet, but the visitors shouldn’t be discounted at a price of 3.40 with BetVictor. The draw is available at 3.55 with Sportsbet and I would suggest that’s an outcome strongly worth considering.
You have to respect the fact Perth have won 13 of their last 14 games and will take on an opponent in dire form, but Brisbane have won five of the last six here. They’ll be keen to put on a performance in front of the new boss, so it’ll be interesting to see what effect those two factors have.
Depsite the odds making them favourites to win, you still have to wonder if you can justify backing Brisbane to win this game. They will be extremely motivated and their season shouldn’t continue in this form, but Perth aren’t going to let go of their record without a fight.
Perth have only slipped up once this season, but it did come on the road. Adelaide United beat them 1-0, shortly after the Roar had came within seconds of a 2-2 draw in the reserve of this fixture. A 90th minute strike from Andy Keogh, completing his hat-trick, gave the home side all three points.
Including that game, brisbane has thrown away a winning position on three occassions in their opening two games, so it’s going to take a lot of work to turn around their current mentality.
Although the Roar have been conceeding a lot of goals, they have been finding the net also. They’ve netted seven goals in four games so far, but they’ll be up against a defence that does conceed goals.
Perth have allowed an average of a goal per game so far this season, but their devastating attack has often lifted them to success. That leaves me expecting goals in ths match, so it’s worth considering the generous prices that are on offer.
There’s a mixed opinion with the majority of bookmakers pricing the Over as more likely, but a couple of bookmakers are offering value on the Over as they prefer the look of the Under.
Bet365 are best priced at 1.95, and I think given the way both of these teams go about defending, we should see goals. Brisbane will want to push forward and show their manager they’re capable, but Perth won’t sit off for anyone.
