Weekend NRL Betting Tips

It’s super hero round in the NRL this weekend with seven clubs swapping their regular jerseys for uniforms straight out of comic books. Characters from the Marvel Universes such as Thor, Spiderman and the Hulk will be seen all around Australia as the Brisbane Broncos look to keep their spot at the top of the ladder.

We’re focussing on Saturday’s action with previews and the best bets from Warriors v Sharks, Cowboys v Raiders and the Broncos trip to face the Sea Eagles.

New Zealand Warriors v Cronulla Sharks

We kick off with a match straight from the middle of the ladder as Cronulla Sharks travel to take on the New Zealand Warriors.

Warriors need to quickly get over last week’s 32-12 loss at the hands of Manly in which Shaun Johnson had his season ended by an ankle injury. The halfback is one of the Warriors key players and life will be much more difficult without him. Thankfully for the Warriors, Sharks are without their own key player, Andrew Fifta, who is being investigated over alleged threatening behaviour.

The two sides are historically well matched with the Sharks edging the head to head record 16 wins to 14 losses. Although the odds suggest otherwise, it looks as though the Sharks could add another win to the record. Bet365’s 2.1 looks good value for a side who love a battle and are in decent form.

North Queensland Cowboys v Canberra Raiders

The Cowboys will be wary of an upset in Saturday’s second game as they host the exciting Raiders.

Only the ladder-topping Broncos have scored more points in the NRL this year than the Raiders and the Green Machine will take their attacking brand of rugby to 1300SMILES Stadium. They will need to.

Parramatta Eels faced the full force of the Cowboys wrath when they were smashed 46-4 last week. We’re not going to see that scoreline on Saturday but we could see another win for the home team. The bookies have the home team favourites with Sportsbet pricing them up at 1.2 but the bet here is on it being an entertaining fixture.

Manly Sea Eagles v Brisbane Broncos

Saturday evening ends with Manly Sea Eagles taking on the top dogs Brisbane Broncos. After back to back wins against the two teams languishing at the bottom of the ladder, the Broncos will have to be somewhere near their best if they are to ensure they remain the NRL’s team to beat.

The Sea Eagles know all there is to know about being at the bottom of the ladder but having put together three wins out of their last four matches they have dragged themselves away from being in contention for the wooden spoon – Sea Eagles fans are now whispering that they may even sneak a place in the top eight. However, even with home advantage Manly will struggle to stop the Broncos recording their tenth straight victory.

You can try to beat the bookies by backing the Broncos to win (they are top priced 1.5 with Ladbrokes) but for more potential profit look towards the handicap market for your bet.
