NRL Round 5 Betting Tips – 30th March 2017

The NRL ladder has a couple of surprises as we head into Round 5. The Dragons, for example, have secured three wins already despite few people fancying their chances while the Raiders need to turn their form around after securing just one win.

With eight games split over four days, there are plenty of betting opportunities presented to us from Round 5.

So, we’ve gone through the matches and picked out our choice of the thee best bets below.

North Queensland Cowboys v South Sydney Rabbitohs

Ahead of the Cowboys’ recent home game against Manly everybody involved with the club was confident. The Cowboys have a very good home record but they were very sloppy and lost a game they should have won comfortably.

They did bounce back with an away win against Gold Coast Titans but this weekend is all about winning in front of their home fans once again.

The bookies clearly believe that this Cowboys side has what it takes to win as they are short odds on favourites whereas the visiting Rabbitohs can be backed at $3.75 with Unibet.

The Bunnies were disappointing offensively against the Roosters but should have more scoring chances against the Cowboys’ lacklustre defence. So, back the Rabbitohs with a +10 point handicap at $2 with BetEasy.

Melbourne Storm v Penrith Panthers

Saturday’s head to head between the Storm and the Panthers is one of the biggest games of the NRL season so far. Both sides were heavily backed to go on and win the premiership and it’s now time for one of them to step up and prove their quality.

So far it’s the Storm who have the better of things in the ladder. They’ve gone four games unbeaten (although they had to work hard to beat the Tigers) and are the bookmakers’ favourites for the game at AAMI Park.

The Panthers can never be completely written off (they were devastating against the Knights’ defence last time out) but they do look to be up against it. They’ll have their fair share of the ball but the Storm’s ability to grind out wins should see them over the line at $1.60 with Unibet.

New Zealand Warriors v Gold Coast Titans

Is it going to be yet another season of unmatched expectations from the Warriors? Once again they looked like potential premiership outsiders but they’ve slipped to three defeats in their opening three games and face another tricky game when the Titans visit Auckland.

The Titans also have just one win to their name going into Round 5 but they have at least shown a lot of heart as they battle on despite injuries to some key players.

Will that heart be enough against the Warriors? Probably not. Will it at least keep the score close? We think so.

So, make sure to head to the handicap market and back the Titans +6 points at $2.10 with Bet365.
