NRL Round 24 Betting Preview and Tips
We may be in Round 24 of the NRL but there is no sign of the action slowing down. Just like any other week there are some very exciting games this weekend. So, we’ve got previews of the three best games of the round along with our top betting tip for each.
Sydney Roosters v Brisbane Broncos
It is first against second on Saturday evening for the second time this season. If they carry on playing the way they have it won’t be the last time that these two face off as they have both been excellent in their very different ways.
Roosters can go level on points with a win but the superior points difference that Broncos hold means they are the clear favourites with the bookies for the minor premiership. Home advantage, the nine game winning streak that Roosters are on and their mean defence makes them favourites for the game at 1.56 with William Hill. That’s our recommendation although the match is going to be a tight one.
Gold Coast Titans v Canberra Raiders
Hmm, Cbus Super Stadium is not going to be a happy place on Sunday afternoon. Poor seasons for both the Gold Coast Titans and Canberra Raiders did not get any better last weekend.
Titans fans have seen just three home wins all season, a terrible record befitting a terrible defence. No team has conceded more points than Titans this year (although Knights are just as poor defensively) and they are also statistically the worst tacklers in the NRL.
Put that defence up against the third best attacking team and you’re asking for trouble but that’s what we’ve got on Sunday. Raiders score plenty of points, they just can’t get it right in defence. Still, the away team won’t be overly challenged by the Titans attack and so should secure a comfortable win.
Manly Sea Eagles v Parramatta Eels
It looks like nothing is going to stop Sea Eagles’ run to the final eight. Another win last week puts them in a good position with just three weeks of regular action left. Sea Eagles are going from strength to strength and they are going to be the team that no other wants to face.
Sea Eagles have a squad full of stars who have been there and done it in the finals. You have to go back to 2004 for the last time the team didn’t get through to the finals and that doesn’t look like changing.
However, there is still work to do before any chickens can start being counted. Sea Eagles have to beat Parramatta first of all. According to the bookies that will be easy – Sea Eagles are a short 1.1 with SportsBet – but Parramatta ran out 42-12 winners last time they met back in Round 1.
It’s fair to put that match to one side when considering this game as it’s months later and Manly is in a vastly better place.
