NRL Final Round Betting Tips

Published: 30.08.2018

It’s the final round of NRL fixtures before the finals begin.

For some teams that means there is just one more match to play before they can take a break and regroup ready for next season. For others, Round 25 is an important chance to gain some confidence ahead of the huge matches still to come.

We’ve picked out three matches from the coming weekend and made our choice of the best NRL final round betting tips to hopefully add some profit to your betting accounts before the Grand final.

Newcastle Knights v St George Illawarra Dragons

When Newcastle Knights played St George Illawarra Dragons in Round 4 of the NRL season, some fans were optimistically looking at their team as genuine outsiders for the premiership.

Sport fans are always likely to get carried away but the Knights were looking good at that point after wins in their first three matches.

Reality bit though in April as the Dragons ran out comfortable winners and it could be more of the same up in Newcastle on Saturday.

Last weekend’s 38-12 loss to the Sharks made it four defeats in five for the Knights who are limping over the line. The Dragons’ form is just as poor but they do at least have one more attempt to turn things around before their finals campaign begins.

The Dragons need to win their fans back having been booed off last week when they failed to register a single point against the Bulldogs. That loss will hurt their pride and give them a wake up call just at the right time so we think they will return to form with a win at $1.76 with Palmerbet.

Parramatta Eels v Sydney Roosters

The only positive thing you can say about the Parramatta Eels’ season is that it’s almost over.

Before the footy season began they were being talked up as certainties for a top eight finish and likely top four contenders. As it stands the Eels are rock bottom of the ladder and destined for the wooden spoon.

The Roosters are safely through to the finals but a recent loss of form will concern their head coach, Trent Robinson.

He’ll spell out in no uncertain terms to his players just how important it is that they do not head into the finals on the back of three defeats in a row. We think that by focussing his players’ minds on the task at hand and the potential for glory on the horizon that Robinson will get a much better performance out of the Roosters.

The Tricolours are the clear favourites in the betting and for good reason. Rather than simply backing them to win, we recommend a bet on the Roosters -12 points at $2.00 with bet365.

Canterbury Bulldogs v Cronulla Sharks

It’s been a tough old season for the Bulldogs but they are at least in with a chance of finishing things on a high. Two wins in a row, including last weekend’s eye-catching 38-0 win at Jubilee Oval, have restored some pride to the Bulldogs players but they have a tough task on Sunday against Cronulla Sharks.

Cronulla themselves enjoyed an impressive win last weekend against the Knights so Shane Flanagan will be feeling positive about his team’s chances in the finals.

The Bulldogs will take plenty of positives into next season but it’s the experienced Sharks who have the chance for glory in September. That experience should see them through this tough final assignment but it’s going to be close. So, have a bet on Cronulla winning by between 1-10 points at $3.10 with MadBookie.
