Broncos v Bulldogs NRL Betting Preview

It was to no ones surprise when the Storm smashed the Tigers by 22 points on Monday evening, further highlighting the disparity in the directions that those two sides are currently heading. On Friday evening, Week 22 action will kick off when the Broncos host the Bulldogs at Suncorp Stadium.

Despite the fact the Bulldogs sit in 5th place in the Ladder – ahead of their 10th placed opponents Brisbane – there’s not much between the two sides. A one game swing is all that separates the sides, and the bookmakers are expecting a closely fought contest.

The Broncos are priced at 1.87 with Unibet to get a home win, whilst the visitors are 2.10 with Sportsbet. The ever unlikely draw can be backed at 21.00 with Centrebet, but I don’t think that’ll be necessary.

Whilst the draw is rather unlikely, you should expect a pretty tight game in our opinion. The Bulldogs are the fourth worst point scorers in the league, but they still have a positive points differential.

The Bulldogs have struggled all season for the consistency that they displayed over the first 10 games, and we should note their defensive efforts are going south. In their last three games alone, the Bulldogs have given up 88 points, losing all three games.

Interestingly, the Bulldogs have alternated three straight wins followed by three straight losses over their last 12 games. If that trend is to continue, then they’d be due a win in Brisbane, avenging their opening day 18-12 home loss to the Broncos.

Whilst the Bulldogs are better placed right now, they’re definitely on a downward spiral. Brisbane still have a chance to make a late dash in the final five games, and the Bulldogs are nice opponents to start that dash against.

However, we should note the hosts themselves have lost their last two games, scoring just 12 points. They did face two top six sides, but they’ve struggled for consistency at home, winning four and losing five.

Both teams are desperate for a win in their current situation, and that’s why this game could simply come down to who wants it more. I don’t expect a lot of points and it could be fairly scrappy in parts, but it’s all about who can hold their nerve in key moments.

Ben Barba will be more than ready to face his side for the second time this season and he may hold the key to unlock his former defence. Other than that, I don’t expect anything too glamorous from this game.

I think desperation will take over in this game, and the trends could continue: Back the Bulldogs +2 at 1.92 with Ladbrokes.
