It is almost time for the Finals Series in the A-League. But, before we turn to the biggest games of the 2016-17 season, there’s the small matter of the final round of fixtures to be completed this weekend.
What a few weeks it’s been for Western Sydney Wanderers. Two months ago, it looked as though Tony Popovic’s side were set to miss out on a place in the finals, but with two games to go there’s still a chance they could finish third.

The NRL ladder has a couple of surprises as we head into Round 5. The Dragons, for example, have secured three wins already despite few people fancying their chances while the Raiders need to turn their form around after securing just one win.
There were some big shocks in the first round of the new AFL season. While some teams looked undercooked, others had obviously put in the hard yards in the post-season and came out of the traps flying.
