Royal Randwick Betting Offers and Tips
Warwick Farm don’t get the opportunity to host Saturday racing too often so everybody involved with the course was looking forwards to this weekend’s nine race card. However, Racing New South Wales stewards made the call to switch the meeting to Royal Randwick with temperatures set to hit 42C in the West of Sydney.
The picture is rather different towards the coast which should help produce some quality racing in much safer conditions.
Racing fans still have great options for their betting on Saturday which is why we’ve gone through the card to pick out our choice of the best bets for you below.
Tab Handicap (Race 2)
The first race to delve into is the Tab Handicap. This 1200 meter handicap is open to two-year-olds only so not only should we be treated to a thrilling race but we’ll also get a chance to look at potential stars of the future.
With so many unexposed horses in the field, it can often pay to go to war with more than one option in these sort of races.
There isn’t much to separate the top four or five in the early betting and we’re going to take on the favourite, Now Or Never, with a couple of different options available at bigger odds.
The first horse to support is Futooh at $6.50 with Unibet.
She came very close to winning her first appearance at Warwick Farm before Christmas but just couldn’t get the better of the leaders in the closing stretch. With improvement expected, Futooh could outpace them all.
Next, try an each-way bet on Commissioner at $12 with Ladbrokes.
The plan is for this high potential colt to go to the Magic Millions but he still has to prove he’s got a chance next weekend. A win here would do nicely and even if he falls short, Commissioner should at least go close and a place would pay nicely at those tempting odds.
Tab Highway Handicap (Race 4)
In Awesome Pluck, the Tab Highway Handicap has one of the most highly fancied horses of the entire meeting. Jenny Graham’s three-year-old will get big support from those who make the trip to Royal Randwick but it could pay to avoid the favourite and side instead with Runway Ready at $4.60 with Sportsbet.
Tye Angland takes the ride for the four-year-old who has bookended his last six starts with wins. Her last win came on the sort of soft ground they may well be served up with at Randwick and it’s that which could tip the scales in her favour.
Awesome Pluck cannot be written off but Runway Ready looks every inch the value bet.
Tab Com Au Handicap (Race 8)
In Race 4 we have a clear favourite with the bookies who we think will get beaten. It’s a different story in Race 8 though as Noire looks every inch a worthy favourite in the Tab Com Au Handicap.
Noire heads into this 1400 meter handicap on the back of a very impressive win at Warwick Farm. She started as the favourite for that race but the support and the bets came flooding in for Pecans. Those who got on with that massive gamble ended up upset as Noire’s strong finish landed the prize for the Chris Waller trained four-year-old.
Nobody is going to make the same mistake of underestimating Noire again, especially as it’s now three wins in a row for her. Winning handicaps is never straightforward but Noire will take some stopping on Saturday.
