The horse racing season is really heating up as we head towards the huge races just on the horizon including the Everest, Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup.

It’s to Caulfield we head this week for our racing tips. There’s an excellent card including several Group level races for punters to get their teeth stuck into.

To help with your betting we’ve picked out our selection of the three best Caulfield racing tips below.

Toorak Handicap (Race 7) Tips

The Toorak Handicap is the first of three Group 1 races that we’re taking a closer look at. It’s an incredibly competitive handicap in which 19 horses do battle over 1600m.

The Australian bookmakers have not yet come up with a clear favourite as Land Of Plenty, Hartnell and Shillelagh are both getting plenty of support in the betting.

Four of the last 10 renewals of the Toorak Handicap were won by the favourites but the competitive nature of this year’s race means it could be worth avoiding the top of the market and having a couple of each-way options.

The first bet we recommend getting onside is Jungle Cat at $10 with Neds. The seven-year-old won the recent Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes which has been a very good guide for the Toorak Handicap before so that price looks very tempting.

It may also be worth siding with Lord Langley who is a $61 outsider with Unibet. Despite over two years without a win, some believe that a change in scenery for the Japanese horse can help him return to his best and challenge for a place.

Caulfield Stakes (Race 8)

Next up is the Caulfield Stakes, a Group 1 contest for horses aged three and older. This is a valuable prize in its own right with $1,000,000 up for grabs but the result of this 2000m race could prove to be more important in the big races to come.

Big names from the northern hemisphere will join some stars of Australian racing in the field for the Caulfield Stakes as trainers seek to freshen them up for the even bigger races to come.

Benbatl and Cliffsofmoher are the main international challengers but it’s an Australian horse, Unforgotten, that we believe will win.

Chris Waller has his four-year-old mare in perfect shape after a decent run at Randwick a couple of weeks ago. Unforgotten should kick on from that third place finish to claim a second Group 1 success at odds of $5.00 with bet365.

Caulfield Guineas Race (9)

Last, but by no means least, comes the race that the day’s racing is named after, the Caulfield Guineas. This extremely valuable and well regarded race is a chance for the best three-year-olds over a mile to show what they can do.

As ever, the Caulfield Guineas will be contested by some very high class colts but there’s a filly attracting a lot of support in the betting. What’s more, Oohood has a real chance of serving it up to the colts having lost her tag of the best maiden in Australia.

We think it’ll be tough for any horse to get the better of the favourite, The Autumn Sun ($1.90 with Ladbrokes) after his win from almost nowhere in the Golden Rose but Oohood can certainly secure at least a place and at $9.50 with Pointsbet she’s not one to miss for an each-way bet.
