Australian Saturday Horse Racing Betting Offers and Tips – 22nd July 2017

There’s another weekend full of quality racing to take advantage of ahead of us. Saturday looks especially competitive with and we’ve picked out three big races to bring you our quick previews complete with betting tips.

July Sprint – Royal Randwick (Race 7)

Seven horses are set to go to post for the July Sprint at Royal Randwick. This 1100 meter race is a true sprint with a decent prize fund and the early betting indicates we’re in for another battle between Felines and Thats A Good Idea.

The two last met in the XXXX Rush at Hawkesbury with Felines getting the win that day. That performance displayed the sort of battling qualities that Kris Lees’ five-year-old has made her name with.

Those qualities also help to make her the favourite at $3.50 with Sportsbet but we are tempted by the $5 that Ladbrokes are quoting about Thats A Good Idea’s Chances.

Now seven, Peter and Paul Snowden’s gelding needs to be in tip top shape to compete at this level but with a solid warm up under his belt he could produce the goods and reverse the form with Felines.

Sky Racing Tattersall’s Mile – Doomben (Race 7)

The listed Tattersall’s Mile is the pick of the Saturday card at Doomben and we’ve got a firm favourite for the $100,000 race in the shape of Crack Me Up.

At $2.20 in the betting, you’d want a three-year-old favourite of this race to have plenty going for it and you’ve got to say that is the case with Crack Me Up.

Trainer, Liam Birchley, has done a very good job with Crack Me Up as anybody who saw his performance when winning the Sunny Coast Guineas will testify. The main challenge is stepping up to challenge his elders but this talented horse has it all going for him so take the $2.20 Luxbet are quoting while it lasts.

Away from the top of the betting and Chandana looks a horse who could serve it up to the favourites. Matthew Dunn has recently taken charge of the four-year-old and everybody associated with the mare is hopeful of better things to come.

We don’t think that Chandana has much of a chance of getting the win but she does look good value to place at $4.20 with Unibet.

Belmont Classic – Caulfield (Race 7)

The 2200 meter Belmont Classic tops the billing at Belmont on Saturday and, like the feature at Doomben, there is one horse expected by most to go on and win.

Gatting is a very impressive, honest three-year-old who can be relied on to give his all in every race. That’s how the gelding has been able to win four races already as well as placing in a further three starts.

He has previously won at longer than 2200 meters so the distance will be no problem and he is in very good shape at the moment having won last time out at Belmont.

If all goes to plan, Gatting should have too much for this level of competition.

If backing favourites isn’t your thing, you might want to have a look at Fast As The Wind. Another promising three-year-old, this filly took just two races to claim her first maiden win and she’s returned from 137 days out in decent form.

If the pace isn’t too quick, Fast As The Wind may just spring a surprise.
