Hurricanes v Strikers Cricket Big Bash League Predictions & Betting Tips 04-01-2019

Published: 03.01.2019

The Big Bash League has its first blockbuster of 2019 on Friday, when the Hobart Hurricanes host the Sydney Sixers at Blundstone Arena. The Hurricanes have started the season with four wins, making them the only unbeaten team in the BBL. The Sixers have a 3-2 win-loss record, and are second, pending results involving other teams.

Hurricanes have BBL Form

Hobart are in superb form as they look to go one better than last season, when they lost the BBL final to the Adelaide Strikers. The Hurricanes have built an impressive net run rate of 0.772, and have won all four of their games comfortably. They won the only fixture against the Sixers last season, at Blundstone.

The Sixers have won two in a row, starting the calendar year strongly with a win over Brisbane Heat on New Year’s Day. Notably, they’re 2-0 outside New South Wales, with their only away loss coming in the cross-town derby against the Sydney Thunder. Despite the Sixers’ good form, the Hurricanes are justifiably favourites, with Neds paying a generous 1.62.

D’Arcy at Short Betting Odds

Hobart’s D’Arcy Short was the top run-scorer in the BBL last year and he’s backing it up this year. Short is currently second in the league for runs scored, with 193, and equal-second for sixes, with eight. He was named man of the match in the Hurricanes’ first two matches this season. Unibet has him at 3.25 to be the Hurricanes’ top batsman on Friday. For the Sixers, Daniel Hughes and Moises Henriques have both scored 103 this season, and are both 4.50 to be their team’s top scorer Friday.

It’s been a team effort so far this season for the Sixers, who are leading the league with 739 runs scored. The Hurricanes have scored the third-most runs, with 621. The Hurricanes lead the Sixers 21-15 for number of sixes. Bet365 has the Hurricanes 1.72 to again score more sixes on Friday.
