England offer early betting tips for 2019 Ashes Series
Recommended cricket bet:
To win the 2019 Ashes – England @ 13/8 (2.62) with bet365
The next Ashes series in England is just over a year away, by which time Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft will all be available for selection after having all served their bans for the ball-tampering incident in the Cape Town Test against South Africa (and which also led to Darren Lehmann resigning from his post as head coach).
The incident in question took place on the third day of the Test Match at Newlands, when Bancroft was caught on camera rubbing the ball with sandpaper. None of the players chose to appeal against their bans from all international cricket and Australia domestic matches.
There have to be doubts as to the selection of all three players for England although, even if all are selected, Australia look far too short to back at 9/10 (1.90) with bet365 to win the series on English soil for the first time since 2001.
In addition, it will almost certainly be the final Ashes series for perhaps three stalwarts of the England team in James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Alastair Cook. They will certainly want to go out on a high.
The 35-year old Anderson has already stated that he wants to play in the 2019 Ashes series. He might suffer from a chronic shoulder complaint, but 2017 was the best year of his career, with him taking 55 wickets at an average of 17.58. Broad has played his part in Ashes winning performances at The Oval in 2009, Durham in 2013 and Trent Bridge in 2015.
If both bowlers are fit and available, they are likely to cause considerable problems for the Australian batsmen in what will almost certainly be their Ashes (and quite possibly Test cricket) farewells. With England also having Ben Stokes back in the fold after missing out last time, they will have a formidable bowling attack.
England can be backed at 13/8 (2.62) with bet365 to win back the Ashes urn next year and that’s where the cricket betting value looks to be at present.
