Australia v South Africa ODI Betting Tips

The Tri-Series will continue on Tuesday evening, and Australia will be hoping to bounce back from the dissapointing defeat suffered at the hands of Zimbabwe on Sunday. Australia made light work of them in their opening fixture, winning by 198 runs, so Sunday’s outcome was particularly dissapointing.

Zimbabwe chased down Australia’s extremely low total of 209, beating the Aussies by 3 wickets with as many as 12 balls remaining. The result was a shock to say the least, but it was no less than either side deserved.

South Africa have all but secured their spot in the final, but that won’t make it any easier for Australia. Having already beaten Australia by seven wickets in their first meeting, South Africa are going to want to take some momentum and confidence in to the final.

They equally struggled to get past Zimbabwe, as a horrendous start saw them go 21-6, eventually overcoming the home naton to record a narrow win.

South Africa are currently best priced 1.91 with BetVictor but the general consensus is that they’re more likely than Australia, who are 2.00 with Bet365 and Boylesports.

This game isn’t an absolutely must win for Australia as South Africa beating Zimbabwe in the final game does mean Australia may still reach the final. Whilst professionalism dictactes South Africa are unlikely to ease up against Zimbabwe, you do wonder.

An Australian win – but without a bonus point – still makes for a potentially sticky situation. It would need Zimbabwe to beat South Africa so convincingly that their net run rate jumps up (of course, unlikely) but the best thing for the Aussies here is a win.

The bad news for Australia is that Michael Clarke will be unavailable. Clarke was one of very few positives on Sunday, as he scored 68 runs in Australia’s loss. The even worse news is that is AB de Villiers and Morne Morkel are well rested and ready to return to action against Australia.

George Bailey will be expected to step up in a big way in the absence of Michael Clarke once again. Australia’s loss against Zimbabwe can be attributed to a lot of things. With or without Clarke organising the field, their total was terrible.

I think their potential final opponents may want to rub salt in the wounds. Back South Africa to beat Australia at 1.91 with BetVictor.
