Richmond vs GWS Giants - AFL - Betting Tips 06-04-2019
Pre-season premiership favourites Richmond have slipped to fourth in AFL premiership odds after a horror start to the year. It won’t get any easier in round three with a trip north to face fellow flag contenders GWS.
GWS v Richmond Betting Preview
It’s hard to know what to make of GWS two weeks into the 2019 AFL season. The Giants won big in round one, albeit against an awful Essendon side. In round two the Giants barely gave a yelp as they went down to West Coast by 52 points. Josh Kelly, Toby Greene, and Shane Mumford are all in line to return in round three, and you get the feeling the Giants chances rest of having all three in the team.
Richmond have also been a puzzle so far. Their loss to Collingwood last Thursday was probably the Tigers’ worst performance in three years. They laid only 33 tackles for the entire match, allowing the Pies 152 more contested possessions. A similar effort this Saturday will just about ensure another Tigers’ loss. What’s more, Richmond will be missing injured stars Alex Rance, Jack Riewoldt, Bachar Houli, and possibly Dylan Grimes. They may rush an underdone Josh Caddy back into the line-up, but it might not be enough.
GWS Giants v Richmond Betting Tips
It’s hard to know who to tip here, given the respective form lines and doubts over the line-ups. Both sides are flag contenders at their best, but what we saw from them in round two was something more worthy of teams near the bottom of the ladder. We’re going to go out on a limb and say Richmond will find the resolve to get up on Saturday. The Tigers are underdogs and are paying 2.32 to win at Unibet.
GWS have won the last two encounters with Richmond at Spotless Stadium by two points in 2018 and three points in 2017. Bet365 is paying 5.50 for Richmond to win by 1-12 this week (or 6.00 for GWS to win by 1-12).
