Essendon vs Brisbane Lions - AFL - Betting Tips 13-04-2019
AFL fans want big matches on Friday nights, and they’ll get what they want this week when Collingwood play the Bulldogs at the MCG. The Maggies have had a tough start to the year against quality opponents, and it won’t get any easier against a resurgent Bulldogs.
Nobody could have predicted Brisbane would be one of two unbeaten teams after three rounds of the 2019 AFL season. The Lions have a chance to keep their winning streak going against Essendon at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.
Essendon v Brisbane AFL Betting Preview
Essendon finally got their first win this season with a win over Melbourne last Friday. After scoring only 105 points in total in the first two weeks, the Bombers suddenly opened the valves, scoring 20.10 130 to the Demons 18.4 112. The match also gave Essendon a good look at the MCG. In one of those quirks of the AFL fixture, the Bombers will host Brisbane at the G this week rather than Marvel Stadium.
Can anyone stop Brisbane? In the first two rounds, the Lions started a long way back at quarter time before storming home to beat West Coast and North Melbourne. In round three, they jumped out of the blocks against Port Adelaide, gave up the lead during the final quarter, and kicked the last four goals to run out 17-point winners. Brisbane are playing irresistible footy at the moment, and it’s been great to watch.

Essendon v Brisbane Lions Betting Tips
This will be just the second time these teams meet at the home of footy since the Lions defeated the Bombers in the 2001 AFL Grand Final. Their only meeting at the MCG since then was in 2009 – believe it or not, it was a draw. The location of this weekend’s match doesn’t tell us much, but the teams’ form lines do. These sides are dead even at 1.91 each at PointsBet, and it’s hard to resist betting on Brisbane for the win.
The Lions were the only team in the AFL to average more than 100 points in the first three rounds, and the Dons finally found their scoring mojo last week. We’re expecting a shootout, so it’s a good thing bet365 is paying 1.77 for 27 goals or more.
