Australian Football League Round 20 Betting Tips

As we approach Round 20 of the AFL we are getting an ever clearer picture of who will be in the mix come the start of the finals.

That’s not to say that it’s all over. Percentage is all that separates the teams from sixth to ninth with at least one of them sure to miss out on big games still to come.

Greater Western Sydney v Melbourne

Saturday’s opening game sees Greater Western Sydney look to strengthen their top four hopes with the visit of the Melbourne Demons to the UNSW Canberra Oval.

The Giants got a much needed win last weekend against Fremantle. That was their first victory since Round 14 after two defeats and back to back draws.

As things stand, Simon Goodwin’s men are third in the AFL ladder, six points off top spot. The minor premiership may be out of their grasp but a vital top four place is very much on the cards.

Melbourne, too, have playoff hopes thanks to some strong recent form. They are one of the four teams tied on 40 points so it is no given but with seven wins from 10, the Dees will be feeling good.

This is a huge game for both teams and a win for either shouldn’t be written off. So, the best bet could well be on over 172.5 points at $1.90 with Luxbet.

Brisbane Lions v Western Bulldogs

After 62 years, the Western Bulldogs finally won the AFL premiership last season but they’ve found the going much more difficult 12 months on.

For much of the season it’s looked as though the Doggies would miss out on a place in the finals but their form and confidence has just returned in the nick of time.

They’ve won three games on the spin and are the clear favourites with the bookies to win against when they visit the Gabba to take on the AFL’s bottom team, the Brisbane Lions.

The Lions have already begun turning their attention to the future. They know that this year is a write off but Chris Fagan has some very talented young players and they’ll be searching for some strong performances to give them confidence for next season.

The Bulldogs should get the win they need but the Lions will be no pushovers so back Brisbane Lions +24.5 points at $2.10 with Unibet.

Adelaide v Port Adelaide

The Showdown between Adelaide and Port Adelaide is always a huge occasion. But, some Showdowns are bigger than others.

Sunday’s game at the Adelaide Oval falls very squarely into the category of the most important Showdowns.

With time running out in the regular season, both Adelaide and Port Adelaide are both very much in the hunt for the premiership. As we go into Round 20, the Crows are sitting pretty, right at the top of the ladder with the Power 10 points behind in fifth.

If the two teams’ position in the ladder wasn’t enough, they both come into the weekend on the back of incredible games from Round 19.

The Crows were a mammoth 50 points behind Collingwood in the early stages of the third quarter but showed all of their class and fighting spirit to pull it back and claim a draw.

The Power’s game against St Kilda was almost as close but they managed to win by just two points to give them renewed hope of overhauling either Richmond or GWS and claiming a place in the top four.

The Crows are the favourites for the Showdown with the $1.55 that Centrebet are quoting the best price you’ll find. We believe they’ve shown enough already this year to suggest that they can get the win in such a big game but there’s no chance of the Power going down easily.

We see this going down to the wire and therefore recommend betting on the Crows to win by one to six points at $6 with Bet365.
