Australian Football League Round 13 Betting Tips

We’re now past the halfway mark in the AFL season and teams now know whether they’ll likely be doing battle for major honours come the end of the season or whether there is a long way still to go.

In our AFL Round 13 betting tips we’ve got quick previews of three of the matches. We’ve got the key information and our pick of the best bets so let’s have a look at the action in depth.

Richmond v Sydney

Richmond v Sydney has the potential to be the most entertaining game of Round 13. Taking place on Saturday afternoon at the MCG, this sees the fourth placed team take on the 14th but the favourites are not the side you might expect at first viewing.

Sydney go into the match as the bookies’ favourites with Palmerbet offering a best price of $1.89. The Swans looked out of Finals contention after their poor start to the season but Round 12’s hugely impressive 46 point win over the Western Bulldogs leaves them with a real chance of making the top eight.

The Swans are going to be a handful for Richmond but with the Tigers fresh and raring to go following a Round 12 bye and a desire to solidify their position in the top four, you’ve got to think the home side look good value at $2 with Luxbet.

If the Tigers are to get that win, they’ll need a very strong performance up forward. The Swans are full of confidence and we think that’s going to result in them putting on a big score. So the second bet for this one is over 178.5 points at $2.50 with Bet365.

Gold Coast v Carlton

Gold Coast are one of those sides who still harbour ambitions of pushing on and making the Finals Series. Just a few short weeks ago that looked very unlikely but two wins in a row has quickly painted their season in a better light.

The Suns are the odds-on favourites to make it three in a row when Carlton visit Metricon Stadium on Saturday night. However, Carlton landed a dramatic win by just one point over GWS in Round 12 prompting hopes of a longer term turnaround of their form as well.

It’s been a season of what ifs for Carlton so far. The Blues’ tally of four wins could quite easily be higher but they’ve just been unable to see games out when it matters.

Carlton will be buoyed by their win against the odds last time out but we think they’ll just fall short again. So, back Carlton +10.5 points at $2.33 with Unibet.

Port Adelaide v Brisbane Lions

It has been a miserable season for the Brisbane Lions so their big Round 12 win over the Dockers was very welcome indeed.

Having finished just one spot above rock bottom last year, they are still floundering at the foot of the AFL ladder and they’re highly unlikely to secure another win this weekend when they take on Port Adelaide.

The Power were humiliated in Round 12, losing by 70 points to Essendon and they badly need to get back to winning ways in order to keep the pressure on the top four sides.

Port Adelaide are not worth backing at a best price of $1.05 with Sportsbet but with a big win in store, we like the look of Port winning with a -57.5 point handicap at $1.90 with Palmerbet.
