Australian Football League Round 10 Betting Tips
There is no sign of this most incredible AFL season slowing down any time soon. We had yet more surprise results, big wins and fierce battles last weekend and are expecting more of the same in Round 10.
So, let’s get stuck straight into the action with our three quick previews of the games we feel could provide a decent profit.
Western Bulldogs v St Kilda
Etihad Stadium is, unsurprisingly, the venue for a very interesting game between the Western Bulldogs and St Kilda. The two teams share the Melbourne ground and will therefore be looking to assert their dominance on their home patch on Saturday.
The last four head to heads between these two at Etihad Stadium have been shared which suggests that we could be in for a close encounter.
The Bulldogs may be the defending premiers and the clear bookies’ favourites but they’ve been anything but convincing this year. A 5-4 record is fine but in none of those five wins have they really caught fire with the sort of game that we know they possess.
St Kilda have shown a worrying tendency to get well beaten (just look at last weekend’s 50-point loss against Sydney Swans) but we just can’t see the Bulldogs running away with it. That makes the $1.90 that Palmerbet are quoting on St Kilda +13.5 points look like good value.
Adelaide v Freemantle
Adelaide Crows fans were starting to get a little worried before last weekend’s win over the Brisbane Lions. Having initially looked like the strongest side in the AFL by some distance, the Crows dropped two games out of nowhere so the massive 80-point win over the beleaguered Lions was very welcome.
The Crows will now be looking to go on a run of form and cement their place at the top of the AFL ladder but with Freemantle up next, that is anything but a foregone conclusion.
There’s very little about the Dockers that immediately stands out from their stats. Their percentage is under 91% for example which is very strange for the side sitting fifth in the league. What the Dockers have been able to do very well, however, is utilise the strengths of their key players.
That makes Ross Lyon’s men very hard to prepare for. You can cope with a style of play or a tactic, but it’s tougher to stop players who are simply excellent at their jobs.
The Crows should be able to make home advantage count at the Adelaide Oval but won’t be winning by anything like 80 points. So, have a bet on the Dockers +33.5 points at $2.14 with Unibet.
Carlton v North Melbourne
With both Carlton and North Melbourne sitting towards the bottom of the AFL ladder, their meeting Etihad Stadium on Sunday is a massive chance for one of them to pick up much needed points.
Carlton are currently just two places above the very bottom of the ladder but at least showed a fair amount of fight in their last two defeats. That gives Brendon Bolton something to work with in terms of motivation and how best to attack their game.
For Brad Scott of North Melbourne, there is no confusion about the best route to a big win. The Kangaroos are one of the best attacking sides around despite their lowly position on the ladder. The confident Roos will look to come out of the blocks flying and assert their dominance much like their last encounter.
We’re confident about North Melbourne from an attacking perspective but not a defensive one and can see this being a very entertaining match. It could, therefore, be worth having a bet on over 201.5 points at $3.35 with Bet365.
