AFL Round 19 Betting Tips – 27th – 29th July 2018
We had some big wins and incredible comebacks to enjoy last weekend in the AFL. With yet more top class drama promised, we’ve selected our best AFL Round 19 betting tips for you below.
Essendon v Sydney Swans
Friday night’s game at Etihad Stadium pits together two teams going in opposite directions.
Essendon has strung together a run of five wins from its last six matches, giving the Bombers a chance of making the finals. The Sydney Swans, however, are still smarting from one of the most shocking defeats in AFL history when they threw away a 30-point lead to lose to a woefully out of form Gold Coast team.
Despite the differing form of these two teams, it’s still the Swans who have the stronger league position. Fourth should be a position of relative comfort but you can’t help but think John Longmire is worried about the effects of last weekend’s loss.
Will the way that the Swans threw away a strong position come to sum up their whole campaign?
Well, the Bombers don’t tend to enjoy the Friday night stage and you have to go back to 2011 for the last time that they beat the Swans.
This is going to be tight but with Sydney desperate to consign last weekend to the past, Longmire’s men look the value in the betting at $2.10 with Centrebet.
Richmond v Collingwood
Saturday’s AFL action begins with a match between first and third in the ladder.
This isn’t only a match between two of the AFL’s pacesetters, it’s also a match between two MCG tenants and their different form at the ground may hold the key to some winning AFL Round 19 betting tips.
Whereas the Tigers have won each of their 10 matches at the MCG this season, the Magpies have a record of six wins and five defeats there. Moreover, the Tigers have won each of the last three head to head meetings and all three were held at the MCG.
The difference in their respective MCG records has not gone unnoticed by the bookies who all make the Tigers the firm favourites. The Magpies are many people’s pick to go all the way and win the premiership come the end of the season but we think the Tigers represent their stiffest opposition.
The Tigers are every bit as good as the Pies in a goalscoring sense but have the edge when it comes to defence. That, and their MCG record, should tip this match towards Richmond who can be backed at $1.47 with bookmaker.com.au.
Although we are happy to side with the Tigers, we’re sure the Magpies will play their part in an entertaining match so make sure to also bet on over 169.5 points at $1.90 with Unibet.
North Melbourne v West Coast
When beating Western Bulldogs by 54 points last weekend, West Coast ended any fears that fans had about a collapse. That was the Eagles’ third win in a row, a run which comes after a three-match losing streak.
The Eagles are one of the favourites to win the 2018 Grand Final so are clearly a very talented team but it still takes a lot of mental strength to put a poor run behind you. North Melbourne needs that sort of mental strength right now as the Roos are in danger of losing touch with the top eight.
It’s now three defeats in four for the Roos who have a massive task ahead of them to stop the bleeding. Unfortunately for North Melbourne fans, we only see this going one way and recommend a bet on West Coast winning with a 3.5-point handicap at $1.95 with Palmerbet.
