Adelaide v Hawthorn - AFL - Betting Tips 23-03-2019
Has any AFL team been talked up more in the pre-season than the Adelaide Crows? On Saturday afternoon, they open their campaign against Hawthorn at Adelaide Oval in what is shaping up as one of the biggest matches of round one.
Adelaide v Hawthorn AFL Preview
Adelaide will be looking to bring their good form from the JLT series into the AFL home and away season. The Crows beat Port Adelaide and GWS in the pre-season, with the most notable performance being that of Brad Crouch, who dominated in the midfield after missing the entire 2018 campaign through injury. Winger Paul Seedsman will miss round one with a finger injury, paving the way for youngster Chayce Jones to debut.
Hawthorn also have some injury worries, namely new recruit Chad Wingard who will miss with a calf injury. Of course, Brownlow Medallist Tom Mitchell has been ruled out for most of the year with a leg injury. The Hawks do expect to have Jack Gunston back in time to face his old side. Many pundits are predicting the Hawks will slide after they were knocked out of last year’s finals in straight sets. But it would be foolish to completely write off Alistair Clarkson and his boys.
Adelaide v Hawthorn Betting Tips
The Crows are rightful favourites here, and seem a fairly safe bet at 1.35. For best value, check out Unibet’s offer of 2.08 for Adelaide to defeat Hawthorn by a margin of 39 points or less.
Adelaide were easily the highest-scoring side in the AFL when they made the grand final in 2017. With many people expecting them to return to their form from two years ago, and with the AFL’s new 6-6-6 rules set to open up scoring, we could see the Crows return to their high-scoring ways. Bet365 is paying 1.97 for both sides to hit the scoreboard and score a combined 28 goals or more.
