Richmond Tigers v Adelaide Crows AFL Betting Preview and Bet Tips

This weekend sees Round 3 of the AFL season and we are starting to get into the swing of things. Some sides have been delighted with the way they’ve begun following on from the post-season break while others need to get cracking if they are to avoid a poor start bleeding over too far into the season. On Saturday there is a very competitive game in prospect at Etihad Stadium as Richmond Tigers take on Adelaide Crows.

These two will both be planning on making another appearance in the finals come the end of the regular season after achieving that aim last year. A win and a defeat for the pair from their opening two matches has given them a solid start which will turn into a strong one for the side that gets the win on Saturday afternoon.
It would be no surprise to see the Tigers and Crows very close to one another in the final reckoning of the league table but the bookies are clear about the side they see as the favourite in this one. Adelaide may be playing away but are odds on across the board with the best price you can find the 1.84 that Luxbet are quoting.

That price is not huge but it is certainly fair. Richmond looked to have got the job done last time out against Collingwood but the last 10 minutes were absolutely shocking. Their collapse can be described as nothing short of a meltdown which could well leave mental scars. The other big negative for the Tigers is the state of their squad. They have a number of top players out with injury even at this early stage of the season while the Crows are at full strength save for Curtly Hampton who will miss out.

When Adelaide played Port they scored a highly impressive 22 goals. In this early part of the campaign they look to have one of the best attacking units in the AFL with the likes of Josh Jenkins, Taylor Walker and Tom Lynch sure to feature heavily on Saturday. Against a Richmond defence which some pundits have been pretty critical of, the Crows will fancy their chances of another excellent display of attacking footy. The Tigers are going to have to be at their very best defensively to have any chance of avoiding a second defeat of the season but their injury list has affected them in most areas of the pitch, including defence. Crows will surely not pass up an opportunity to inflict a big defeat on a team they consider rivals for a finals spot so bet on Adelaide to win with a -14.5 handicap applied at 2.48 with Unibet.

Of all the attacking options at the Crows disposal, Taylor Walker is one of the very best. The 25-year-old was an important player last season scoring 59 goals and he could bag even more this year. Walker is surely going to enjoy his Saturday afternoon so back him to score a hattrick at 2.3 with Sportsbet.
